While the corporate social responsibility (CSR), in particular with regard to the carbon footprint, is now one of the top purchasing priorities, more than four out of ten organizations do not have any specific management procedure (35.7%) in this area or would do it manually (7.1%). This emerges from online survey recently carried out by Acxias on the subject, to measure current practices in the purchasing and procure-to-pay process. Of the respondents who have digitized the management of these aspects, half use their purchasing solution and the other half a specialized tool, mainly for themulti-source data aggregation : recovery in internal systems, collection from suppliers, import from external databases.

On this point, it is encouraging to note that among the respondents who have taken the step of digitalization for the management of these crucial aspects, half use their internal purchasing solution, while the other half opt for a specialized tool, mainly dedicated to the aggregation of multisource data. This includes the retrieval of data from the company's internal systems, the collection of information from suppliers, as well as the import of external databases.

However, there is still a long way to go for all organizations to adopt these responsible practices. Digitalization offers many opportunities to improve data transparency, facilitate carbon footprint tracking throughout the supply chain and promote informed decision-making. By taking full advantage of available technologies, companies can better understand their impact on the environment and make strategic decisions in favor of sustainable development.

It is therefore essential that companies become aware of the crucial importance of social responsibility in the field of purchasing. By investing in specialized digital management solutions, they can not only improve their green performance, but also boost their reputation with stakeholders and help preserve the environment for future generations. Thus, the commitment to CSR should be placed at the heart of companies' purchasing strategies, for a more sustainable and responsible future.
