Online purchases by professionals, which had started to slow down in 2022 (+9,9 %) after the strong double-digit growth of the years 2020 and 2021 marked by several confinements, were slowed down again in 2023: +3.5% only. This slowdown, revealed in the E-commerce review 2023 recently presented by the Federation e-commerce and distance selling (Fevad), could be explained by the current context of inflation linked to latest crises and Climate change, which would impose “consumer arbitrage”. For'all merchant sites (professional and general public buyers), which generated 159.9 billion euros in turnover in France last year, the progression also slowed down, with growth falling to 10.5% after the + 15.1% in 2021 and +13.8% in 2022, despite the good dynamic in purchases of services (+20%). Activity on marketplaces, down 1%, continues its decline that began last year.
